Celestius VIII (8 May 1503 - 16 March 1556) was King of Nova Solarius from 1552-1556. His most notable accomplishment during his short reign was reforming the Navy.
He was the son of Taejo VII and grandson of Solus XV. He married Jolel Mais of Larid in 1522. During his reign, there was relative peace, with no wars or revolts during his reign. Most of his reign was exploring the islands of Solarius on the multiple properties he owned throughout the islands.
Early Life
Losephus Cirwa Celestia was born in the Gredds Castle in Sol on 8 May, 1503. He was given the title Exsecun (Second to the throne) by then Crowned Prince Taejo. He was raised in the palace and had a privileged life. He barely left the Palace and would often stay withing the Palace residence. From a young age, Losephus was tutored by philosophers and mages, with the most famous tutor being Ionnas Meltov. Ionnas tutored the young prince from when he was 5 up until he was 17. Ionnas gave Losephus the patriotic route of history, praising Solarius and all it had accomplished through the eras, but also helped Losephus to criticize what was wrong and praise what was right. Losephus would occasionally visit his younger brother, Zacharias, in Elgri but was not impressed with the trips and would have rather stayed at the Palace. There was one reported case where Losephus actually enjoyed Elgri. In the records, it is said that a Grey Fox came up to Losephus and purred up to his leg. It is said that Losephus gave the fox a piece of meat to make the fox go away, but instead, the fox ended up following him throughout his trip at Elgri and took the fox to the palace, and adopted him as his own. It ended up as a symbol on the Coat of Arms of Losephus during his life.
Losephus was also trained in the arts and loved theater, wishing to be an actor. While his grandfather encouraged him to pursue acting, his father, Taejo, perfered for Losephus to focus on studying governance and becoming a magistrate. Losephus chose the former and so became an actor at the age of 17.
Early Adulthood
Even when Losephus became an actor in 1521, he still held politics in high regard. He preferred performing in historical or political plays but would occasionally perform in romantic plays such as Amor Est Oblitus (Love is Forgotten). During his tenure as actor, he was involved in over 100+ plays during his lifetime. He often worked with some of the best playwriters of the century and often starred in their plays but also worked as a writer. He routinely worked under the most famous Playwright, Olpius Junos, in many of his greatest works like Ship of Beds or Of Heart & Mind.
During one performance, he spotted a young man in the crowd and he didn't take his eyes off of him for the entire play with Losephus stumbling his words a little due to be pre-occupied. After the play, Losephus asked for the man to come backstage and within a few minutes, a man stepped into Losephus' room. It is rumored that they had a romantic session during the day, and from that point on, the man, only known as Puerio of Laris, would accompany Losephus during his travels. As an actor, Losephus enjoyed many benefits including parties, special treatment, & priority of being chosen for plays. Many actors envied Losephus and would end up sour relations with a lot of actors within the capital. There was even a hit ordered on Losephus but the attack was repelled by Losephus' guards with Losephus having minor injuries to his arm.
Reign
When King Taejo VII died of a heart attack on 11th of November 1552, Losephus was proclaimed King Celestius VIII of Nova Solarius. Unlike most Monarchs whose Prvoto would be in the capital, Losephus' Prvoto was on the Royal Brig, The NRS Jacis (Navis Regia Solaris). Unlike his father before him, Losephus was not an ambitious ruler, and surrounded himself with content advisors that wanted the system to stay the same. This was a blessing and a curse as Nova Solarius' enemies were not as intimidated as they once were, leading to cooling of relations which lead to increase trade and a more appreciative population. However, this also lead to countless raids in the Pelia territory by nomadic people. One of the first act that Celestius would propose was the restructuring of the National Actors Guild to improve actor's lives and profession. While during his reign, Celestius was a patron of the Arts, opening the first free Art Gallery Museum called the Gailgo Art Museum.
