It was lead by the country's 30th Prime Minister, and second Prime Minister since the restoration of democratic rule in 1976. The Kokkinakis ministry was formed after Leander Kokkinakis won the 1984 Liberal Party leadership election and replaced outgoing Prme Minister Eric Edwards. It was re-elected at the 1984 federal election and ended after Kokkinakis' resignation as a result of the Scott Affair.
