Ozbek, officially the Ozbek Empire, is a nation in central Asia. It is bordered by Qazin to the west, Persha to the south, Turky to the southeast, and Manchea to the northeast. It has a coast with the Krasnoyarsk Sea to the north and the Gulf of Irtish to the northeast.
Ozbek is one of the oldest Post-Collapse nations still in existence. The Yusupova family has ruthlessly ruled the empire for its entire existence of 693 years. Political freedom is nonexistent and heavy criminal penalties are in place for any opposition to the government. Civil liberties are not well respected and are often violated. False imprisonment is common and most aspects of life are controlled by the government.
Qazin has been aiming to annex Ozbek through financial means. Ozbek has a significant amount of debt owed to Qazin, and several treaties and contracts between the two countries lean in Qazin’s favour. Ozbek practices imprisoned slavery and profits by selling inmates to other nations, Persha, Magarsha, and wealthy Ozbeks being the only regular buyers. Agriculture and manufacturing are Ozbek’s main industries.
Etymology
The origin of Ozbek is disputed, however there are three clear theories. The first and most compelling is that the word means independent or "own master," from combining the word oz (own) and bek (master). The second is that the country was named after Oghuz Khagan, a legendary ancestor of the Ozbek people. The third is that it was named after the Oghuz tribe who settled an area southwest of the country near the Aral Sea.
