In 1952, four years after democracy had been re-established in the country; Stein was charged with felony tax evasion, securities fraud and Healthcare fraud in Morawia. Stein fled to the Fichmanistan, and having already been a Fichmani National since 1949 was allowed to temporarly reside there. The government of Moravia demanded Stein be handed over immediately or actions would be taken. President Éamon O'Beirne of Fichmanistan feared making his country look weak, and sought counsel from his old freind and current Minister for Justice, Kirk Lampart. Lampart encouraged O'Beirne to defend Fichmanistan and its sovereignty and insinuated the charges against Stein were fabricated.
