The 1990 Zouterhem Riots were a series of riots and civil disturbances that occured in parts of the Zouterhem metropolitan area in July and August 1990. Unrest began in North Zouterhem after a jury acquitted 2 officers of the National Police Service (NPS) charged with using exsessive force (Police Brutality) in the arrest and beating of Ron Emondt. The incident was videotaped by witnesses and widely shared nationwide.
