The Karlsson government was formed in response to the 2021 governmental crisis in Eulabia, which began with the arrest of the then-Finance Secretary TBD on charges of corruption. In the wake of the scandal, Prime Minister Joshua Hartmann offered his resignation to President Mosley on 10 November 2021, assuming collective responsibility for his administration's actions. On 15 November, President Mosley appointed Mekhar A. Karlsson, a business magnate known for his eccentric and sometimes reckless leadership style, as the new Prime Minister. Karlsson was charged with the task of overhauling and innovating the rigid ministry system.
