The Ox-Lamat-class is a frigate design in service with the Royal Mutulese Navy. Construction began in the as part of the Mutulese armed forces' campaign for defence self-sufficiency, which involved the development of indigenous weapons platforms and the gradual reduction of Mutul's dependency on foreign technology in terms of high-end capabilities. Construction of this class of frigates began in the early-2000's, utilising experience derived from the slightly-earlier Mamlab-class destroyer project. It incorporates a mixture of an indigenously designed hull and combat systems, a mix of indigenous and imported sensors technology and some Tsurushiman weapons. Some thirteen ships of the class are in service as of 2018.
The Ox-Lamat-class is a multi-function vessel, capable of combating air, surface and sub-surface threats. It has a formidable battery of sixteen sea-skimming anti-ship missiles amidship, as well as medium-ranged anti-ship missiles in a vertical-launch battery at the fore. These guided weapons are supported by gun systems such as a 100mm turret and a close-in weapon system. Anti-submarine capabilities are provided for by its combination of hull-mounted and towed variable-depth sonar, its on-board anti-submarine helicopter, and its triple torpedo tubes.
