Emperor ′Ei (Shinasthana: 哀皇帝, ′ei-gwang-têgh; May 23, 1753 – Oct. 12, 1821) was the Emperor of Themiclesia from 1770 to his death in 1821. He was the only son of his father, Emperor kRjong, and was succeeded by his eldest son,Emperor kRjang. ′Ei's reign encompassed pivotal changes that some historians believe demarked modern Themiclesian history, including the abolition of the imperial foreign policy and adoption of a conservative one, the loss of virtually all of its colonial and overseas territories, and the signing of several peace treaties. In connection with the failures of his forces, political power shifted from the throne to the aristocracy that had been sidelined since the reign of Emperor Gwidh-mjen.
