The Order of Merit is a military award issued to members of the Lumenic Legion for "exceptional meritorious conduct and outstanding achievements performed in service to the Lumenic Legion". It can awarded during peace time or times of war, and is the highest non-combat oriented awarded that can be bestowed by the Lumenic Legion during peacetime. In addition, it is the highest award that can be bestowed by the Lumenic government to foreign military and political figures.
History
Awarding and eligibility
The Order of Merit is typically awarded to general officers in all four branches of Lumenic service who have occupied senior command positions, and is also commonly awarded to officers serving in senior staff positions within their branch of service. It is sometimes also awarded to warrant officers who hold command positions as part of their area of responsibility. In addition, the Order of Merit can be awarded to non-commissioned officers of extreme rank. Traditionally, the highest ranking non-commissioned officer of a branch of service may receive the Order of Merit upon retirement form active service.
