Illusia and Neverendia, officially the United Kingdom of Illusia and Neverendia (Illusian: Vereinigtes Königreich von Illusionenland und Neverendienland), colloquially Illuverendia, is a sovereign state in southeast Anea. It is primarily bordered by the Ceres Ocean and does not share any land borders with any southeast Anean nation. The capital city is Enigmastadt, but the largest city is White Plains, and the country has a population of 125 million Illuverendians.

The history of Illusia and Neverendia are extensively diverse, with both nations having a mutual history of enmity against each other. Modern nation-states of both nations were founded in the 15th century, after the United Duchies formed the Kingdom of Neverendia. On the other hand, the Duchy of Nachtberg made its own state, the Kingdom of Illusia. Both kingdoms then had a rivalry on each other that intensified over the control of the Santhean Triangle, which escalated into the Illusia-Neverendia War in the 16th century.

With the wars ending in Neverendian favour, both countries eventually declared a truce and an eventual peace treaty through the Treaty of Enigmastadt that declared a status quo ante bellum over the territorial control of Santhea and officially handed it to Neverendian control. Rivalry between both sides ended, and the Challenge Line was established to be their international border. Both nations warmed up to each other and beginning an era of inter-marriages, which would be the catalyst to Illuverendian unification.

In 1796, King Lexus III of Illusia was assassinated. He left his last will to his wife, Queen Victoria IV of Neverendia, which was to unite the two nations. Amidst national mourning between both nations, Victoria IV went to Enigmastadt and put the Enigmastadt Declaration into force, uniting the Illusian and Neverendian crowns into one. She was then knew as Victoria I of Illuverendia afterwards. The period of unity marked a new national identity between the two ethnicities, fueling extensive progress throughout the 19th century before entering a period of stagnation in the late 1890s to 1900.

On the onset of the 20th century, the House of Brandt took over the Illuverendian crown, under Franziska von Brandt, thrusting the Illuverendian nation into the Franziskanic era, which has been regarded as the Illuverendian golden age. Culture, economy, and military power of the country skyrocketed through her rule from 1900 to 1991. The succeeding monarchs under the House of d'Autriche signaled the end of the golden ages and the beginning of the Ekelepoche. Widespread disgust and dissatisfaction against the monarchy finally culminated on the Illuverendian Revolution in 2017.

After a brief era of being a botched republic and a long era of stratocratic rule, the Illuverendian monarchy was revived under the rule of Alyssa Midford, beginning the current Alyssanian era. Her present rule has been considered the second Illuverendian golden age, and many of her reforms have been extensively compared with Franziska's.

Name and etymology

The names of the two nations emerged from their differing languages. The Kingdom of Illusia was originally known as Nachtberg, and the Neverendians were duchies that had a mix of their languages, making their etymology extensively diverse. The Illusians took their modern name from the High Neverendian pejorative term illoise, which originally meant to be "illusion", as the United Duchies ostracised the Duchy of Nachtberg.

The modern name of Neverendia comes from Nyverith, the High Neverendian town where the creation of the Kingdom of Neverendia was signed. Nyverith eventually would become Neverendia through Santhea's contribution to Middle Neverendian in the 16th century.
