Zemplen (Karvelebi: ზემპლენი; Ruvelkan Script:Ủìṳũłìṵ; Syaran: Земплен) is a geographic region located in northwestern Siduri on the border between Ruvelka and Syara. The status of Zemplen has long been historically disputed between the two nations; following the conclusion of the Zemplen War it is currently internationally recognized as part of Ruvelka.

Zemplen has played a major role in the national histories of both Ruvelka and Syara. The region is home to the ancient city of Nemaro which holds notable cultural significance to Syaran history, being the location of two major battles that are considered to have effectively marked the beginning and the end of the Makedonian Empire.

The region is on the boundary between the Ipoly foothills of Ruvelka and the Kuprianian Forest of Syara. It is the ancestral home of the Karvelebi people and has been colonised by Makedonians, Galanians, and Ruvelkans throughout its long history. Following the fall of the Arkoennite Empire, Zemplen gained its independence and became closely associated with its neighboring Ruvelkans. In 1701 it became a member of the Ruvelkan Confederation and later supported the Principality of Debrecen during the Confederation Dispute. The foundation of the Ruvelkan Imperium saw the Grand Duchy of Zemplen become one of the Imperium’s many constituent states.

During the Ruvelkan-Makedonian War, the region was seized by the Kingdom of Makedon which maintained control of Zemplen through the unification of Syara. In October 1907, Syara invaded northern Ruvelka in response to socialist-inspired revolts with the conflict concluding with the Ruvelkan Socialist Republic managing to retake control of approximately 70% of Zemplen, though it would once again lose control of the region during the Syaran intervention in the Ruvelkan Civil War.

Zemplen remained internationally recognized as part of Syara until the end of the Zemplen War in 2010.
