Professor Gethman Tormian (born 1 December 1955) is the foremost economist within the Pontanore and is regarded as the father of Caropsyne Economic Theory. He has served as Economics Minister both during the final years of Fostana Rule and over 6 Premierships. Tormian is one of the most respected members of the government and civil society, representing one of the 'meritocratic' placements of successive cabinets.

He grew up in a predominant Fornænda family where his father was a banker and his mother was a doctor at a local hospital. He blew away his lecturers during his primary and secondary education receiving first honors. Tormian showed exceptional skill in mathematics and was offered a full scholarship to the Imperial University of Fornænda (now known as the University of the Pontanore). He obtained his doctorate in economics in 1980 and would lecture for several years formulating the Fornænda School of Economic Theory before being tapped as the Fostana's Economics Advisor by Chair Rolmand Roth in 1985. Future Premier Miria Seranoda was one of his students.

It would begin a thirty-five year long career in Government. Following the end of Fostana Rule in 1993, his extensive knowledge would prompt Phodric Dormond to appointment as minister. He would also serve under his successor Haldric Maldian, and was critical of both of them for their respective fiscal policies. Under the first two Premiers, he would attempt to implement portions of his General Economic Plan in his capacity as chair of the Pontanore Economic Council, but would be stymied. Gethman was present during the Siege of the Pontiana where he sustained injuries during the Damosca attack.

Miria Seranoda became Premier in the aftermath of the attempted coup and announced an wide-ranging socialist policy agenda built on the basis of Tormian's full vision. She reconnected with her former lecturer and offered him the ability to continue on as Economics Minister in her cabinet. Knowing that he had her support, he set in motion the full implementation of his desired General Economic Plan centered on a mixed economy, an extensive welfare system, and one in which the State would retain major assets in the name of the people. All Seranoda's successors have carried on with these guidelines for economic growth to this day.

Upon Ilmer Yutrias's ascendence to the Premiership, Tormian formally retired from the Economics Ministry and was succeeded by his deputy Garel Tandetta. Gethman Tormian was appointed to the Fostana on 10 September 2020 for his contributions on developing the nation's economic fundamentals and the guiding the Pontanore State of Euvodora's economic boom.
