AleziRadio Festival of Songs 1966 is the ninth edition of the annual AleziRadio Festival of Songs. It was held on 16th of May 1966, which was held and organized by Radio Zafizamarrah after Rina Yublaqani's victory last year. This is the second time that the region has hosted the competition in its territory, after doing so previously in 1963
Initially, the six regions of South Alezia was supposed to debut in the competition to promote friendship between the two divided nations. However, South Alezia withdrew from the competition saying that the standards of the competition is too low for them, and due to the fact that the relationship between the two countries aren't as amorous as the era of the present. The relationship between the two countries back then was strained so much that a war was speculated to break out between the two at that time, however, this never happened.
However, even with South Alezia's withdrawal, two more regions debuted in the competition, which are Mosin-Nagan and Pantabang Islands (which was officially still divided between North and South Alezia back then, but was allowed to participate in both countries' events), officially bringing the total number of entries to 16.
Incidents
Daya Island Entry
Daya Island once again became a focus point of this year's competition due to their protest about them being left out on being invited to the competition. They protested that if regions as small as Mosin-Nagan and Pantabang Islands are allowed to represent themselves separate from their guarantor regions (Mosin-Nagan under Tel Hadivian jurisdiction, Pantabang Islands under Zafizamarranian jurisdiction), then a big island such as Daya Island should be allowed to represent themselves separate from Pyalivostok.
AleziRadio reasoned that Daya Island is still too dependant on Pyalivostok and the infrastructure and talent of the island is still too minimal to be considered, as AleziRadio rules that each region cannot send only one singer (that sings all the entries from that region) or one song to the competition.
However, Daya Island proved itself to be able to be self-sufficient in talent and everything else away from Pyalivostok that AleziRadio finally ratified and approved Daya Island's admission to the ARFOS family the year after.
