The Communist Party of Undreshistan (Venadian: Коммунистическая Партия Ундрешистан, transcript: Kommunistisheskaya Partiya Undreshistan) was a political party in Undreshistan between 1937 to 1966. During the occupation of Undreshistan by the Revolutionary People's Republic of Arlelli during the Second Ardanian Great War, the Communist Party of Undreshistan become the leaders of the collaborationist government established in Undreshistan, the Undreshi Democratic Republic. The party was as a result banned by the Republic of Venadia.
History
The CPU was founded in 1937, as a split from the Communist Party of Venadia. Unlike the CPV, the CPU aligned less towards orthodox Marxism and more towards a homebrewed communist ideology, influenced both by Islamic teachings and marxism. This ideology was referred to as Marxism-Relajevism by the party, named after the ideological doctrines of its founding figure Akhmad Relajev. The CPU managed to take the majority of the CPVs members in Undreshistan, and managed to attract more support than the CPV had ever done in Undreshistan due to its nationalistic and less atheistic stance.
Undreshistan fell to Arlellian communist forces in the Second Ardanian Great War, and the CPU became the primary collaborateurs of the Arlellian communists. The Undreshi Democratic Republic was formed in 1939 with the CPU holding supreme executive power in the region and was the sole legal political party. Despite the existance of a CPU government however, it was the Arlellians who wielded actual power, with the UDR having next to no actual power. While the Arlellians faced initial success in the war against Venadia, by 1941 the frontlines had once more reached Undreshistan itself, and by 1942 all territories of the UDR were once again under Venadian control. The CPU was banned by Venadia in 1938, and was forced into hiding with a significant amount of its leadership fleeing south along with the Arlellians.
After the war, the CPU continued its existance illegally both in Undreshistan and abroad. The Undreshi Red Army, the remnants of Undreshi regiments in the Arlellian armed forces, became the militant wing of the party until 1955 when the URA and CPU split over ideological disagreements. The CPU's support among the native Undreshi remained largely isolated to some areas in the west and south, and with the rise of Islamic fundamentalism in the 60s lost much of this support base. In 1966, the CPU decided to formally dissolve itself, with a minority of former members forming the Undreshi Socialist Party which was legalized in 1973.
