The Rwizikuran is the newspaper of record of Rwizikuru. Established as the Port Fitzhubert Herald in 1897, it became the preeminent newspaper, and mostly focused on news going on in Port Fitzhubert, albeit they paid attention to the rest of the colony. After Rwizikuru's independence in 1946, the Port Fitzhubert Herald focused more on national news, and was renamed to The Rwizikuran in 1950. From 1970 until 2019, it was the only legal newspaper in the country.
