The Zephyr is a Syaran version of the Æþurheim JF10 Svart Orn.
The JF10 was first acquired by the Commonality Air Force in 1994 and was designated the Zephyr. The Zephyr was intended to replace the Nephele as the primary air superiority fighter of the CAF. This role was later partially supplamented by the Periphas, which led to later variations of the Zephyr possessing multi-role abilities. The Zephyr remained the primary air superiority of the CAF throughout the Zemplen War, where it played a major role during the air war of the conflict and produced several aces.
The Zephyr received extensive upgrades and adjustments following the war, incorporating many of the lessons learned. A total of 63 Zephyrs were downed during the conflict, in exchange for 142 air-to-air victories. The most recent modifications made in 2020 are expected to keep the aircraft in service until the 2030s.
