The Vitsligi, commonly referred to as The Ligi, is a professional men's football league based in Visargia. It is the nation's primary domestic football competition, sitting at the top of the domestic football pyramid in Visargia. 20 clubs compete in the league each season with the promotion and relegation system meaning the bottom three teams each season are relegated to the Sguntsligi. The teams which compete in the Thuadian Champions Cup are also decided based on their final position in the Vitsligi table for that season.
The Vitsligi in its current form was founded in 1953 and first played in the 1953-54 season. It was founded in the aftermath of the end of the New State period with many of the top teams prior to the rise of the dictatorship being banned from competing in professional sporting competitions by the Ministry of Sports and Culture due to their fans anti-dictatorship stances. The league initially started out with 24 teams competing in it's first season, though this was later reduced to 20 in the 1980s. The first winners of the league were Arkeli Rovanem, who won the first three seasons of the competition.
