The Système de Combat d'Infanterie à Roues Variante Lourde (SCIRVL "Wheeled Infantry Combat System, Heavy Variant") is an outgrowth and distinct variant of the SCIR 8x8 infantry fighting vehicle designed and produced by GIST Industries and Favager Automobiles of Notreceau to replace the AVS 14T. The vehicle entered combat trials with the 2nd Armored Division of the Notreceauen Army in 2016 before achieving full operational status in 2018 and is currently undergoing full-scale production with a total of 320 vehicles on order.
Design and Role
Compared to its parent design the SCIRVL is significantly heavier, featuring a slightly longer but narrower chassis and a heavier armor package offering more protection. The turret on the SCIRVL is a development unique to the vehicle and features a purpose-built GIST-AC57-70/7 autocannon and fire control system. The SCIRVL also features modular reactive armor packages that can be added or removed in the field, with options for a factory installed active protection system upon request.
The SCIRVL is specifically designed to equip the mechanized infantry contingent of Notreceauen armored divisions, providing heavier firepower and protection compared to the standard SCIR. The 57mm gun, in conjunction with the MACNG anti-tank guided missile provides greater anti-vehicular and armored capabilities and increased survivability in high intensity combat areas.
