Politics of Vyvland

The Capitalist-Libertarian Party (Vyvlander: Kapitalez-Libertaarezpaart, pronounced /kapiːtaleʒ liːbeɾtaːɾeʒ paɾt/ referred to as the Capitalists) is a Vyvlander libertarian political party, and the fifth largest in the current Parliament with thirty seats. The party is led by Denis Eeris, the wetaan for Lysedal-Hoppedal and former Prime Minister from 1989 to 1993. They generally believe in the free market and limited government. The party is currently a junior party in the governing coalition led by Prime Minister Gyneld Welelmsen. The party holds three ministries in the National Commission, Vyvland's cabinet.

History

Denis Eeris, the party leader

The Capitalists were formed in 2005 as a splinter movement from both the Liberal Party and Conservative Party, due to unhappiness among a minority of members of each party that their views were being overlooked. Its formation was overseen by two influential Vyvlander politicians, Denis Eeris (formerly Liberal) and Lilia Weljreng (formerly Conservative), whose efforts propelled them into parliament after only 5 months of existence in the 2005 general election. However, Weljreng declined to join due to his opposition to the party's primarily libertarian ethos.

At the 2009 election the Capitalists won 30 seats, making them the third largest party in Parliament. However, shortly after the election, their support plummeted due to a comment by deputy leader Jesika Noismef, who praised Jahistic Unolia as "everything Vyvland should strive to be". She was soon expelled from the party and replaced by Rank Nevsen. They are seen in the upcoming election to be likely to gain seats, and it has been suggested that they are looking into forming a coalition with the Conservatives. The party doubled their number of seats to two in the Esquarian Parliament elections in 2013, gaining 8.8% of the vote and coming fifth out of the Vyvlander parties. In the 2013 general election, the party gained by far their highest proportion of seats, at 52, which was not far from double their proportion before the election.
