The Perep Bombing of 2022 was a terrorist attack on Interregion Highway 28 and surrounding businesses in Perep, Nexalan carried out on November 12, 2022, when multiple C-4 IEDs were detonated.

Planning

Approximately four months before the attack Kert Bursten was reportedly fired from his job as a manager at the 'McBride Shopping Center' which is a mall with 18 stores inside, the owner of the mall, Ryan Madden fired Kurt after over two years of being a manager when multiple employees came forward reporting his abuse to employees, apparently employees were being paid differently depending on political beliefs, race, country of origin, and sexuality. Kurt also was investagated by police in October 2021 when a female employee told police that she was Sexually Assaulted by Kurt. About two weeks after his dissmissal he bought chemical ingredients off of the Internet that when mixed together could make RDX which is a extremely dangerous chemical that is commonly used to make IEDs, additionally he bought Polyisobutylene which is also used in IEDs. Two days before the attack, a neighbor of Kurt reported 'Potential Criminal Activites' who said that he was doing experiments in his garage, the neighbor believed that it was drug related, police never responded to the report because it was classified as potential and there were no evidence to prove that this was drug related.

Attack

On November 11, 2022 at around 11:43pm surveillance cameras used on the highway showed a white truck throwing objects across the highway, the truck than took and exit and went on the other side of the highway where the driver threw a few more onto the highway, cameras then showed a hooded man stepping out of his car at the Quirell Food Market and placed an additional object in the parking lot, followed by another at the 'Peterson Modeling Agency' which was a business next door to the food market. at 5:03am on November 12, 2022, a rental truck parked outside the 'McBride Shopping Center' with the white truck latched behind it, the white truck was then taken off the rental truck and was parked infront of the 'McBride Shopping Center' entrance, then an additional object was placed outside the 'YAMC Movie Theater' which was next to the shopping center, at 5:32am a rideshare driver picked up the man from the parking lot and was driven to a nearby hotel where he later booked a room in. At 1:58, Kurt Bursten asked an employee of the hotel "Where can I find a good view of the highway", the employee then directed the man to a bridge two minutes from the hotel. Kurt Bursten walked to the bridge for about five minutes to the bridge when he later detonated all of the bombs at once at 2:04:12pm, which was rush hour on the highway which as of a result there were light traffic on the highway, and most businesses were very busy. 108 people were instantly killed by the explosion and more than 609 people were severely injured as of a result. Kurt Bursten then was picked up again by a rideshare service driver to his home which was about 12 minutes away, leaving all of his belongings in the hotel, including a map of the explosions. Three hours after the explosion police began to search for the terrorist attackers, at 6:03pm, police officers went to the hotel Kurt Bursten was staying in and asked employees for any potential suspects, the employee who directed Kurt to the bridge came foward saying that "He was very suspicious and walked to the bridge without driving or taking anything.", Police then searched his room where they found no suitcases or personal belongings except for a map of where the IEDs where to be placed, hotel workers did not know his name nor why he was staying, investigators began searching through the crime scene areas of the highways and businesses and began asking questions, it wasn't until November 14, 2022 when Ryan Madden was questioned by police, where he was asked about any history that could have led to the attack, Ryan then suggested Kurt Bursten as a potential suspect, after police found out about his previous report a few days before a search warrent was conducted on November 15, 2022 at around 7:00am, where they found explosive material and unfinished IEDs he was taken by police where additional items were convinscated, including his computer, phone, and records. They found his credit card history where they found chemicals and explosive materials being bought, along with files about the attack on his computer and even a suicide note. Kurt Bursten was taken to trial where he recieved a punishment of Lethal Injection which is planned to happen on January 12, 2023. Kurt Bursten was taken to the Sondel Maximum Facility, which is a federal prison owned by the government which is classed as a supermax or "control unit" prison, thus providing a higher, more controlled level of custody than a maximum security prison, Sondel Maximum Facility is a unit designed specifically for the secure housing of those prisoners most capable of extreme violence toward staff or other inmates.
