Insulin was invented by three researches in the Republic of Speke, who then went on to create Sowa Laboratories. On 23 February 1927, The three researchers, Dobrosław Sobczak, Frydryk Adamczyk, Józef Dudek, had made a breakthrough in their insulin purification method, and had been confident after constant blood glucose drops after administering the insulin to dogs without a pancreas. A few months later, insulin was used for the first time ever to treat a patient recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, which resulted in a significant drop in blood glucose levels, however ketone levels were still dangerously high. A year after the breakthrough, the three researches founded Sowa Laboratories, and started mass-producing insulin for the first time ever, later selling the patent for 20 Nowy Zloty, stating their belief that "insulin is for the world". Many years later, as recombinant DNA technology improved, Sowa Laboratories invested in recreating synthetic insulin, through the use of E.coli bacteria. In 1980, the company also became the first ever company to produce synthetic insulin.
