Athos (Athonite: Athoniki), formally the The Holy City of Athos is the capital and largest city of the Holy Athonite State. Athos also serves as the capital of the Athos region. As the seat of the Athonite government, the Athonite Catholic Church, and several religious organizations, Athos is an important religious capital.
Athos' history spans 13 centuries. Athonite mythology dates the founding of Athos at around 754 AD but the area has been inhabited for much longer.

Athos is considered one of the leading cities of the Holy Athonite State, serving as an important hub of business, transportation, education, healthcare, professional services and tourism.
