The 2023 Carucerean legislative election was a snap election held on Saturday, 8th of July 2023 to elect the members of the 21st Senate of Carucere. It was the 5th snap election held in the country's history and the first one held since 2003. All 79 senators were elected by nationwide proportional representation with a 3% electoral threshold.
The Senate of Carucere (French langauge: Sénat de Caruquère, Papotement: Senat Karuku) is the primary legislature of Carucere. The Senate is composed of 79 members, who are directly elected for 4-year terms by regional proportional representation. It is one of two legislative bodies on the national level, the other being the Great Assembly.

President Neil Gaubina called an early election after the Senate did not nominate a new Premier within a week following the resignation of Dazadiu Dogo and the collapse of the Congress government. Infighting within the Congress party and its affiliated labour union seriously damaged the Congress campaign. The parties of the gosant campaigned among their ethnic communities to increase the turnout of their voter base. Major issues in the election was the controversy over further construction for infrastructure in Vallée Verte Parish and economic relations with the rest of the Arucian Cooperation Organization.
The origins of the Senate trace to the colonial legislature formed during the Gaullican colonial era. The modern institution of the Senate was established after the colony's incorporation into the Arucian Federation in 1934. Following the establishment of an independent Carucere, it became the new country's supreme legislative body. However economic and political infighting weakened the authority of the Senate, after a succession after several weak Preimers. Jean Preval's self-coup and the new constitution ratified in 1972, ended the Senate's absolute authority over the country. The country formally became a semi-presidential system republic and the Senate had to share a system of checks and balances with the President of Carucere. Its role further declined with the establishment of the Great Assembly of Carucere as a second legislative body on the federal level.

The United Progressive Party remained the largest political party in the Senate for the eleventh consecutive election. The Congress party suffered significant losses, losing more than half their vote share and seats from the previous election. The parties of the gosant benefited the most from their collapse, especially the Reformed Social Party. Following the election, Democratic party leader David Jonas met with several other parties for discussions on forming a government. An agreement with the United Progressives and the General Assembly party was reached on the 12th of July, and President Gaubina nominated Jonas for Premier a day after. The Senate unanimously confirmed Jonas as Premier on the 14th.
Today, the Senate usually exercises a secondary, albeit important, role in national politics. The Senate has the final authority on all legislation. In addition it must approve the appointment of the Cabinet of Carucere and the Premier of Carucere. In addition, it maintains many supervisory powers such as the power to Impeachment officials, dismiss the Premier and the Cabinet by a majority vote, impeach and remove the President, veto presidential decrees, and to dissolve itself and call new elections. Until an election is completed, the Senate maintains its authority in its current composition.

The Senate of Carucere (Gaullican: Sénat de Caruquère, Papotement: Senat Karuku) is the primary legislative body of Carucere. The Senate is composed of 79 members, who are directly elected for 4-year terms by regional proportional representation. It is one of two legislative bodies on the national level, the other being the Great Assembly.

The country formally became a semi-presidential republic and the Senate had to share a system of checks and balances with the President of Carucere. Its role further declined with the establishment of the Great Assembly of Carucere as a second legislative body on the federal level.

Today, the Senate usually exercises a secondary, albeit important, role in national politics. The Senate has the final authority on all legislation. In addition it must approve the appointment of the Cabinet of Carucere and the Premier of Carucere. In addition, it maintains many supervisory powers such as the power to impeach officials, dismiss the Premier and the Cabinet by a majority vote, impeach and remove the President, veto presidential decrees, and to dissolve itself and call new elections. Until an election is completed, the Senate maintains its authority in its current composition.
