Silaq, officially the Republic of Silaq, is a nation in northeastern America. It is bordered by Jalleq to the southwest, Tormit to the east, and Greenlan to the northeast. It has a coast with the Kalaallit Sea to the north, the Qeqertalik Sea to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean to the south.
Silaq is ranked moderately high for civil liberties and HRC-FS human rights. Silaq respects civil liberties, however there is no constitution or other binding document guaranteeing any civil liberties. The law system of Silaq is severely flawed, causing inequality and unfair trials. Political freedom is ranked high and elections are protected from significant corruption.
Silaq enjoys a stable economy including minerals, agriculture, and the largest tourism industry in Kalaallit. Many locations on the western coast, especially the peninsulas, are heavily visited by tourists. The northern coast is almost exclusively farming and the eastern coast is almost exclusively mining. The central region is a mix of urban, suburban, and rural with manufacturing throughout.
Etymology
Silaq was named after its capital, Tasiilaq, which at the time was the only large settlement in the area. Tasiilaq itself has unknown origins.
