The Ministry of Spirituality and Supernatural Occurrences (Chinese: ) is a government ministry in Amenria, concerned with the study and archiving of all things related to the soul and/orotherwise paranormal, including, but not limited to Qì, ghosts, and haunted and enchanted places and items. Contrary to the Ministry of Religion's more legal approach to these matters, the approach used by the MSSO can be considered to be more academic in nature.
The MSSO was formed shortly after the nation was founded, combining the resources and manpower from preceding agencies in the formerly independent countries of Asia.

Magic Fever
The late 2030s and early 2040s was characterized by governments and non-state actors attempting to harness magic as an clean and renewable alternative energy source without resorting to forming a pact with demons out of philosophical, religious, or practical concerns. In 2042, the MSSO began capturing demons associated with shamans and other magic practitioners who were taken under custody of the police, containing them in ectoplasmic cells in a facility located in Shanxi, Central Amenria. In 2043, a containment breach occurred, resulting in 97 deaths and at least 528 injuries. The project was terminated the following week and no other attempt at drawing Qì from ghosts or their dimension has been taken since.
