HesTel, formerly ExTel, is a major multinational telecommunications company based in the Blackhelm Confederacy. The company is headquartered in Paradise City, and is traded on the Paradise City Stock Exchange.
The company was formed in 1894 to establish telephone connections throughout the Empire of Exponent. Following the collapse of Exponent in 1996, the company rebranded as HesTel, to better reflect the new political reality in Hesperidesia.
Undersea communications
HesTel has a domestic and regional presence in Astyria in laying the infrastructure of infrastructure for Undersea communications. The very first Undersea telephone cable was the ES-1, laid in 1912 to connect to Scottopia, following the pathway of the trans-Scottopian telegraph lines that had been lain decades prior. Connections to Teudallum, however, would not be made until 1951, with the laying of the HT-1, and later the Australis-1 cable between Hesperidesia and Lisander, in partnership with Telis.
