The Aisling Army (Aisling: Arm Toirt) is the terrestrial branch of the Aisling Defense Force and is largest of the three uniformed services. Service in the Imperial Army, as with the other uniformed services, is strictly voluntary, as conscription is illegal under the Articles of Governance. Completion of a term of service in the Aisling Army qualifies an Aisling for citizenship, conferring upon them the privilege of suffrage and the right to campaign for and hold public office.

A platoon consists of three sections, generally three rifle squads paired with three weapons squads, and an attached command unit of 2. A proper platoon will contain one of each type of weapons squad.
A company consists of three platoons and a single battery 82 mm mortar and a second ATGM squad.
Three companies plus attached support and staff
Three battalions to a brigade plus support units |
The Aisling Defense Corps separates infantry formations into three categories; light, medium and heavy.
A light infantry include units intended for special application or operation missions, such as sepcial forces or mountain warfare units. They may have no motorized transport or may utilize light utility vehicles or trucks.
Medium and heavy infantry formations are both considered mechanized infantry formations with medium infantry formations generally utilizing wheeled or tracked armoured personnel carriers whereas heavy infantry formations are transported in wheeled or tracked infantry fighting vehicles.
A basic infantry squad, regardless of its classification, consists of seven infantrymen and is generally led by a Sáirsint. The squad is broken into two three-person fireteams, with the first team being led by the squads second in command, usually a Ceannaire. The first team, under the command of the Ceannaire and often refereed to as Alfa, consists of a grenadier, usually equipped with a TGD-2 standalone grenade launcher, although with the adoption of the RD-05, the grenadier may instead be equipped with standard rifle and underbarrel grenade launcher. Also included in the Alfa team is a soldier equipped with a light machine gun, such as the GMD-03É. The second team, refereed to as Béite team, includes a second light machine gun operator, a rifleman and a designated marksman. All members of the infantry squad are issued a sidearm, with the issued pistol being the PD-03 pistol in 9x19 mm. Aisling soldiers have the option to carry privately purchased sidearms as well, but are responsible for supplying non-standard ammunitions types. In addition, all members of the squad are equipped with firearms optics, generally a standard red dot sight, with the squads marksman and second in command being issued a magnifying optic. In addition, there are two <some kind of light AT weapon> available to the squad which are considered supplemental to the heavier antitank weapons in the support section.
