The president of Germany, officially titled the President of the Reich, (German: Reichspräsident is the head of state of Germany.
Germany has a semi-presidential system of government in which the president acts as the head of the executive branch, in contrast to the German chancellor which is responsible to the Reichstag. As per the German constitution, "[T]he President of the Reich represents the Reich in international relations. In the name of the Reich he makes alliances and other treaties with foreign powers. He accredits and receives diplomatic representatives". The president additionally appoints national officials and military officers, such as the chancellor, and has supreme control over the armed forces of the country.
