Heudeberg: The Hell of West Besmenia (Besmenian: Heudeberg: Die Hölle von Westbesmenien), is a 1976 Besmenian documentary film directed and produced by Walter Benzk. The documentary is about the West Besmenian Heudeberg labor camp, which was operated from 1935 to 1966.
Heudeberg: The Hell of West Besmenia was released on June 9, 1976 (two days after the Liberation Day) in the Besmenian cinemas and received mostly positive reviews, but also caused controversy for some statements and especially the film footage of the Heudeberg labor camp from 1966. The documentary remains an important part of the investigation into the BNU dictatorship that began in 1967.
Plot
The documentary, hosted by Walter Benzk, tells the 31-year history of the Heudeberg labor camp, from its background, planning and construction in the early 1930s to its liberation by West Besmenian soldiers during the West Besmenian Revolution in 1966. Interviews with former prisoners are shown, who talk about their imprisonment in Heudeberg. Film footage and photos are also shown, taken by the West Besmenian Armed Forces shortly after the liberation in 1966, showing the state of the labor camp shortly before its closure.
