Origins
The first inhabitants of Castineos were the Vik'rus, who inhabited the island a the time of the Imperial arrival. The first settlements on the island appeared between 1 and 2,000BC around the Southbay area. This population steadily grew into several thousand, and by the time the first Exponential explorers arrived on the island in the late 1300's, the native population had a strong fishing industry, augmented by a significant agricultural field. From the moment of discovery by Aurelius Viride, a small trade began between the two, primarily negotiated by passing Imperial sailors and local powerful Vik'rus households, bartering trinkets and other goods from Hesperidesia for fish, fresh vegetables, and water, allowing vessels to take on supplies before continuing on to other destinations.
