The Attack on Castineos was a surprise military attack by the Aquitaynian Navy upon the Empire of Exponent against the Imperial naval base on Castineos, just before 8:00am local time on Monday, June 12, 1922. Aquitayne was a neutral country at the time; the attack led to the entrance of Aquitayne into the Great Astyrian War and was followed by an official declaration of war against the Empire of Exponent at 11:00am that same morning. The Aquitaynian military leadership referred to the attack as the Island Operation, and Operation Light during its planning.
