A crown and sword map is a very old type of map used by Scanderans in olden times as very primitive versions of it have been found on runestones and highly ornate and detailed versions have been found on parchments from early and even middle Eröfringstiden.
The quality of the maps could also vary highly from mere stylised maps in books to highly detailed ones with cities marked out, roads present and accurate distances written out. While the maps have been given the simpler name "sword and crown maps" so are there actually four parts of them that are equally important, these parts are: the shield, the crown, the sword and the stars.
The Shield
The shield is what the map lies on and symbolises the world tree and midgard, while it is not important for the map itself so is it still nothing you can draw the map without.
The Crown
The crown represents both Innan and Utanhafen, the bottom and the two outer points are Utanhafet while the middle one is innanhafet. This is used to separate Imeriata and Eteisrannikko from one another.
The Sword
The sword represents the Vedian mountain chain and Vedian is written both bellow and over the sword. The sword is used to separate the northern iceplains from the greenlands.
The Stars
The final piece of the map (and an optional one as earlier maps do not have them) is the three stars, one is placed directly to the left of the blade, a second one is placed directly under the middle point on the crown and the last is placed right of the lower part of the right point of the crown. These stars represents the minor realms of Karmanjaka, Jarnarna and Suderland
