The Battle of Laflin was the first battle of the Imperial Civil War and also marked the begining of the Saxondale Campaign. The battle was a victory for the Leftists of the Ballaeter Group under the command of Davey Muircanon, the local Labour Party candidate in Ballaeter. The Imperials suffered a minor defeat when the Saxondale Division and the remnants of the town's militia were pushed out of the town by a sudden and aggressive Leftist attack. Lord Yates, who commanded the defence, was killed in the fighting. This battle was very quickly followed by the Battle of Innstein.
