Caliph before election

Abdullah I
Traditionalist Party

Elected Caliph

Abdulaziz El-Din
Liberal Party of Al-Khilafah

Overview Following arguments that the 2119 Khalid election unfairly advantaged the Traditionalists, the Caliph held another election.

This election took place during the war with America which Al-Khilafah lost.

Change of support

Support changed amongst the merchant seafarers (who had the most casualties in the war), skilled manual workers and schoolteachers (many of whom had sons or, occasionally, daughters, fighting in the war), these groups historically supported the Traditionalists but switched to the Liberals.
