The 1989 Tianjing International Exhibition was a world's fair/international exhibition held in Tianjing, the capital of Songguo. The exhibition took place just five short years after the 6-6 Crisis, and Tianjing was extensively rebuilt and remodeled for the exhibition. It was largely due to the exhibition that the city's war damage was so extensively cleaned up. Major reconstruction and new building was also undertaken in Dongjing, located near the capital, which had undergone a far more brutal siege during the 6-6 Crisis. For the exhibition, the Songhua government built a number of major projects, including the Capital Region Special High-Speed Passenger Rail Network, the Baishadao-Dongjing Special High-Speed Passenger Rail Line, the Porcelain Arrow Tower, the Dongjing Central Complex, and the Crystal City Convention Center. The Palace of the Grand Assembly, which had been bombed and set on fire during the 6-6 Crisis, was also completely rebuilt, as were a number of districts and buildings in Tianjing and Dongjing. The main grounds of the exhibition were located at Peacock Lake Park and the Field of Heroes in Tianjing, but there was a secondary exhibition grounds in Dongjing at the Central Complex and around the Reservoir of Lustre. Baishadao was also home to a smaller area associated with the exhibition around the Baishadao Chrétien Tower.
The exhibition was a diplomatic landmark as well, with Songguo allowing huge numbers of foreign tourists into the country in a rare sign of openness, even from DITO and CSS nations. This openness was followed up by a period of detente between Songguo and Gaullica, which led to negotiations that allowed DITO and QTO markets to open up significantly to one another and spurred massive growth in Songguo.
