The 1973 Besmenian presidential election took place on 25 February 1973 in Besmenia. The 11th Besmenian presidential election, which originally would have taken place in April 1976, had to be presented three years earlier due to the sudden death of President Thomas Albrecht in January 1973.
The BVP nominated the Summingian Govenor Kurt Weimer. The SDU nominated the former Federal Minister for Finance Uwe Lögermann. Erwin Pohl, who served as Federal Foreign Minister from 1964 to 1972, ran as an independent candidate. Pohl won the election with 56.3%. He served as president until 1985.
