Insmerda, officially the Ebrarian State of Insmerda, is a country in Argis, south of the Yeetland peninsula occupying the eastern portion of the island of Bouenezenn. While recognised by Ebrary and other countries, Insmerda is considered by Aurivizh and some other countries to be part of the Aurivizht State of Bouenezenn. Casilla is the capital of Insmerda.
Following a plebiscite plagued with voter fraud in 1976 and the Ebraro-Aurivizht War of 1977, the former Republic of Insmerda was partitioned with an Aurivizht-backed government in the west and an Ebrarian-backed government in the east. This resulted in population exchange based on religion and ethnicity and the creation of the Ebrarian State of Insmerda.
Insmerda claims the entirety of the island Bouenezenn, called Insmerda by Ebrarian speakers, as well as the associated exclusive economic zone. The Ebrarian Army maintains a force in Insmerda with agreement of the Insmerdan government, with this being viewed as a provocation by the Aurivizht and Bouenezenn governments. Insmerda is part of a customs union with Ebrary and is reliant on Ebrary for military protection, making Insmerda a de facto protectorate of Ebrary. Although reliant on Ebrary, it maintains a wide degree of freedom in domestic affairs.
Government
Insmerda is a unitary presidential republic, with a unicameral elected General Assembly and a directly elected President. However, Insmerda does not have universal suffrage, with only Ebraricist Christian males that demonstrate literacy in Ebrarese being allowed to vote.
The General Synod is composed of seven Ebraricist bishops within the Reformed Apostolic Orthodox Archdiocese of Insmerda, also known as the Ebraricist Church of Insmerda. The Archbishop of Casilla serves as head of the synod while the other six are diocesan bishops which serve on a rotating basis. This Synod, established after the Ebrarian Revolution, governs the Religious Courts in Insmerda and regulates matters of marriage, divorce, burials, inheritance, sexual relations, and the sabbath (blue laws).
Economy
Insmerda is heavily reliant on forestry, natural gas, and tourism for its economic output. The natural gas resources of Insmerda are leased to the Ebrarian state-owned natural gas company. Insmerda has adopted the Ebrarian ebro as the currency, and Ebrary and Insmerda are also both signatories of the bilateral Ebrary-Insmerda Economic Agreement which establishes a customs union with Ebrary.
Demographics
The majority of Insmerdans are Ebrarian Insmerdans, although there is a notable Gallasian minority and a small number of Aurivizht Insmerdans. Religiously, the Ebraricist Christian community is organized under the self-governing Archdiocese of Insmerda, with minorities of other Protestant Christians, as well as Orthodox, Aroman Christians, and a small number of Catholics.
