The party was founded in 2005 originally as Liveable Yndyk for the 2005 Yndyk regional election. The party came first in the election and it's founder, Liekele Ykema subsequently became Minister-President of the Yndyk region. The party achieved an electoral breakthrough in 2010 when it became the second largest party in the Folkssenaat and formed the first liberal-led government in Alsland led by Ykema.
