Not to be confused with Wezel province in Madalrii.
Wesel (pronounced /weːz(ə)l/) is a province in west-central Vyvland, the third-smallest in the country by population and the fourth-smallest by area. Its capital is the city of Breson, which lies on the upper reaches of the River Ryzer, the country's second-longest. Other major towns include Osbel, Nencia and Vreusdi, where the University of Vreusdi is situated.
Wesel's name comes from Weshelen, meaning West hills, which refers to its position to the west of Vlud province, and its rough terrain; the province is the location of Asgerhorn, the second-largest mountain in Vyvland, which rises from the dramatic Mrulbri Bowl in the province's far northwest. However, the south of the province around Nencia is much flatter, bordering on the Plains province to the south. The majority of the province lies in the former North Vyvland, although most southerly area around Nencia, where the Accords of Nencia dividing Vyvland after the conclusion of the Civil War was signed, previously lay in South Vyvland.
