Food Tour is a long running television series which airs weekly on the Malgravean Broadcasting Service. It is designed to showcase the variety of food across Malgrave, although, in recent years it has also showcased how foreigners have adapted their own national dishes and serve migrant communities.
History
In the build-up to the end of isolation a variety of shows were suggested to try and assist the transition for both Malgravean nationals and newly arrived migrants, with one example being Mountain Rescue (1998-2002).
As part of that process it was soon discovered that restaurant culture in Malgrave was quite different compared to counterparts in the region, as this sector was more commercialised and relied on fast food produce which ran in stark contrast to restaurants in Malgrave which tended to be small family-run businesses or non-profit concerns run by regional social solidarity councils.
In response Food Tour was put together to highlight different aspects of Malgravean cuisine and make foreigners more accustomed to the different dining experience in the country, although recent episodes have started to highlight the impact that migrant communities have had on the local food culture and even food production methods.
It was initially intended to run for three years, however, its popularity meant that it has kept running and it has even passed 1,000 episodes.
Synopsis
Food Tour starts off with a host exploring a region of Malgrave and visiting various restaurants and agriculture and fishing collectives to both showcase their favourite local dishes, and explain the work that goes into making this food a reality. It has had a variety of famous hosts over the years such as Kim Hye-jin, Rhee Chae-Yeong, Janina Pasternack and Choi Iseul.
Starting in 2010 Four Tour has started to investigate restaurants and farms opened by migrant communities, and a few episodes have featured Breheimian, Kouralian and Dornalian cuisine and agricultural practices, with a special focused on the importance of the Breheimian fishing industry to local cuisine.
