The Social Democratic Workers' Party (SDUP, POSD, Mespalian Sociâlidemocratîcquinen urêridenpârti, French: Parti ouvrier social-démocrate) is a social democratic political party in Mespalia.
The firts Mespalian social democratic parties were organized in the 1880s, the most notable of which were the Social Democratic Party and the Workers' Party. The two parties united in 1895 and formed the Social Democratic Workers' Party. Soon afterwards the new party was almost outlawed following the assasination of King Charles I in 1902, but condemnation of the murder by the party's leaders prevented this. SDUP replaced the Liberal Party as the main opposition to the Conservatives in the 1910s and has always been at least the 3rd largest party in the Parliament of Mespalia ever since.
Ideologically, the party is a typical center-left social democratic party. It supports a strong welfare state, progressive taxation and fair trade and is strongly supportive of the Esquarian Community. SDUP is also critical of the Mespalian monarchy and supports the establishment of a republic. The party has close relations with the Central Confederation of Mespalian Trade Unions.
