After graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1996, Taimana became a filmmaker and producer for the [[Gallambrian Broadcasting Corporation]], documentaries and educational films covering [[Marenai|Marenai culture]], regional history and cultural topics. After leaving the GBC in 2012, along with former GBC colleagues, went on to establish [[Black Door Studios]], a Paeoterangi-based film studio. He served as the Studio's Chief Executive and Supervising Producer until 2017, when he was appointed as the Chancellor of the Royal College of Art.
