Nadia Jane Louise Burnett (née Little, born 20 September 1980) is a Gallambrian politician who has be the Xth prime minister of Gallambria and leader of the Liberal Party since 2018. She was first elected to the House of Representatives as the member of Parliament (MP) for Colyers.

Born in Royal Carrick, Burnett attended St Mary's All Girls School. After graduating from St John's College in 2001, Burnett worked as a policy officer in the office of Prime Minister {?}. She later worked in Selbourne as an advisor to the Gallambrian Ambassador to Seylos. In 2009, she was elected president of the Adlantic Democratic Youth Forum. Following the death of the incumbent MP for Colyers Michael Steadman, Burnett was elected to represent Colyers electorate in a by-election on 10 October 2009.

Burnett was elected as deputy leader of the Gallambrian Liberal Party on 2 July 2014, following the dismissal of Elizabeth Heathering-Tate. Following the shock resignation of Sir Anthony Greenwald as Prime Minister in 2018, Burnett was elected unopposed as leader in his place. She was sworn in as Prime Minister by King Albert II on 7 April 2018. The Liberal's support increased rapidly after Burnett became Prime Minister.

Burnett describes herself as a liberal conservative. The current Liberal government has focused particularly on domestic and regional child poverty, social inequality, Marenai identity, and national security. Following the {?} Tamworth bombings, Burnett was quick to recommend a Royal Commission into the failings of the Gallambrian intelligence community, which lead to massive reforms affecting both civilian and military intelligence agencies.

Early life and education

Born 20 September 1980, in Royal Carrick, Gallambria, where her father, Harold Burnett worked as a Veterinarian, and her mother, Jane Burnett (née Ayre), worked as a high school teacher. Burnett was raised in the Church of Gallambria. She studied at St Mary's All Girls School, where she served as her class' senior girl. She then attended St John's College, a constituent college of Bromwich University, graduating in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in political science and public relations.

Burnett joined the Liberal Party at the age of 18, and became a senior figure in the Young Liberals division of the party. After graduating university, she spent time working in the office of {?} as a junior policy officer. After a period of time in Bashan, where she worked with ANHCR, Burnett moved to Selbourne, Selyos where she bacame a senior policy adviser to the Gallambrian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Seylos. Burnett was made a Companion of the Order of St Thomas & St Michael for diplomatic services.

Early political career

President of the Adlantic Democratic Youth Forum

On 26 March 2009, at 29, Burnett was elected General Secretary of the Adlantic Democratic Youth Forum (MDYF) at their regional conference in Tawmorth, for a two-year term until 2011. The role saw her spend time in several countries, including Delamaria, Salvia and Seylos. It was almost mid-way through her term that Burnett was elected as the Member for Colyers for the Liberal Party. She then continued to manage both roles for the next 13 months.

Member of Parliament

On 25 September 2009, the long-sitting Labor Member for Colyers, Michael Steadman suddenly passed away following a long illness, leaving the seat vacant. The Government called for a by-election to fill the seat, where Burnett ran as the Liberal candidate. On 10 October 2009, Burnett was elected as the new Representative for Colyers with a margin of only 469 votes. In August 2010, Burnett was promoted to the outer cabinet, as the Parliamentary Under Secretary for the Bashan, working under the then Foreign Secretary {?}. Following the Black Books Leak, a series of documents exposed by the Bromwich Times, showed that Elizabeth Heathering-Tate was behind the "Black Books" plot to oust Anthony Greenwald as leader of the Liberal Party, which would have allowed Heathering-Tate to be naturally succeed Greenwald as Leader and by default making her Prime Minister. On 2 July 2014, following an internal party investigation, the National Caucus of the Liberal Party met behind closed doors to determine Heathering-Tate's fate. Before a decision was made, Heathering-Tate tendered her resignation as Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party, and also as a Member of Parliament. The Caucus later decided to hold an election that day for her replacement, where anonymous members of the Moderate faction, nominated Burnett as candidate for the deputy leadership. Burnett was elected unanimously as Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party.
