A yellow-red coalition or red-yellow coalition (often referred to as social liberal coalition since the mid-1960s) is a government coalition of the Free Besmenian Citizen's Party and the Social Democratic Union. Under Albrecht Neumann there was a coalition of both parties for the first time from 1944 to 1956. After the FBBP developed in the 1960s under Jürgen Rothmann from a right wing liberal to a more centric liberal party, SDU membership rose the interest of a social-liberal coalition, whereby the SDU is nowadays referred to as a classic government partner of the FBBP.

A cyan-blue coalition is a government coalition of the Besmenian People's Party and the National Besmenian Party. Such a coalition has only existed at the state level in the state of Greuningia between 1999 and 2009. The reason is that the majority of BVP renounced a coalition with the NBP in the past.

A government coalition is a party alliance that is formed in order to form a government and to provide parliamentary support on the basis of agreements in terms of content and personnel. These agreements, which are recorded in a coalition agreement after coalition negotiations, usually apply for one legislative period.

List of Besmenian government coalitions, which have existed in this way so far at the federal and state levels

Blue-red coalition

In Besmenia, a blue-red coalition or red-blue coalition is a government coalition of the Besmenian People's Party and the Social Democratic Union. This coalition is one of the most traditional and oldest. Such coalitions have become very rare since the 1970s on federal level, as the majority of SDU politicans prefer a coalition with the FBBP. Between 1956 and 1972 both parties were involved in the government for a total of 16 years (between 1956-1964 under BVP leadership and 1964-1972 under SDU leadership). After that there was a blue-red coalition only 40 years later between 2012-2016.

Blue-yellow coalition

In Besmenia, a blue-yellow coalition or yellow-blue coalition is a government coalition of the Besmenian People's Party and the Free Besmenian Citizen's Party. The term is nowadays also used for the historic coalition of the BVP with the Liberal Citizen's Party of Besmenia, the predecessor party of the FBBP.

A yellow-red coalition or red-yellow coalition (often referred to as social-liberal coalition) is a government coalition of the Free Besmenian Citizen's Party and the Social Democratic Union. The first governing coalition of this kind existed at federal level from 1948 to 1956 between the Social Democratic Union and the then right-wing liberal Liberal Citizen's Party of Besmenia, although the name of the coalition for the cooperation between the LBB and SDU is rather uncommon, since the LBB had never officially been used the color dark yellow, with which it is today associated with the LBB, as a party colour.

Turquoise-blue coalition

A turquoise-blue coalition or blue-turquoise coalition is a government coalition of the Besmenian People's Party and the National Besmenian Party. This coalition has only existed twice so far and only at state level: First in Greuningia from 1998 to 2008 under NBP leadership and currently since 2022 in Sedakania under BVP leadership. The reason that a blue-turquoise coalition rarely occurs is the rejection of the majority of BVP members towards the right-wing populist NBP
