'''Joseph Ngonidzashe''' (27 September, 1961 - 23 February, 2002) was the only son of King [[Izibongo Ngonidzashe]] and his first wife, [[Anatswanashe Ngonidzashe]] who served as Crown Prince from the establishment of the [[Monarchy of Rwizikuru|Rwizikuran monarchy]] in 1968 until his death in the [[TBD avalanche]], the Chief of [[Gutaguru]] from 1984 until his death, as royal treasurer from 1986 until 1989, and then again from 1997 until his death, and chief archivist from 1990 until 1997.
 
==Early life and education==
Joseph Ngonidzashe was born on 27 September, 1961 in [[Port Fitzhubert]] to Anatswanashe Ngonidzashe and to Izibongo Ngonidzashe, then the Chief of Staff of the [[Royal Rwizikuran Armed Forces|Rwizikuran Armed Forces]].
 
He began his education at the [[Charles Fitzhubert School]] in Port Fitzhubert in 1966, where he was described as a middling student. In 1972, he finished his elementary studies, and despite failing the exams, he was admitted into the [[Izibongo Ngonidzashe Grammar School]], where he would attend until 1978 when the royal family moved to their newly completed palace in [[Guta raMambo]]. He would finish his secondary studies in 1979 at the newly-established [[Crown Prince Grammar School]] in Guta raMambo.
 
Although his results at the Grammar School made him normally unable to attend university, he was able to attend the [[University of Rwizikuru]] due to his father's intervention, and he graduated in 1983 with first class honours in political science.
 
==Crown Prince==
On 1 June, 1968, Joseph Ngonidzashe was named as Crown Prince by his father at his father's coronation in [[Munzwa]]. While he frequently appeared alongside his father during his later childhood, he would make his first solo public appearance in 1976 when he gave the commencement speech at Charles Fitzhubert School.
 
Following his graduation from the University of Rwizikuru in 1983, Joseph would be named to his first official government position in 1984 when he was appointed Chief for [[Gutaguru]], which he would maintain until his death. As Chief for Gutaguru, he invested into the infrastructure of the district, although it was hampered by the "rampant corruption" within the district.
 
In 1986, Joseph Ngonidzashe was apppointed royal treasurer, where he was noted in 1988 shortly before his father accepted the loan from the [[Global Institute of Fiscal Affairs]] that "he proved himself efficient at {{wp|embezzlement|embezzling}} money from the nation's coffers." Joseph Ngonidzashe would subsequently be appointed chief archivist of the royal household in 1990, which was seen as a largely ceremonial position devoid of any real power. Joseph Ngonidzashe was married to [[Nyamiyaga Ngonidzashe|Nyamiyaga Manirambona]], eldest daughter of then-Prince of the Randa [[James Manirambona]] in 1989. This marriage was an {{wp|arranged marriage}} by Izibongo Ngonidzashe, who sought to increase his own legitimacy among the "Rwizikuran periphery," and James Manirambona, who believed that such a marriage would guarantee a more "fairer distribution of resources" to the [[Randa people|Randa]].
 
Together, they had five daughters: Auyanerudo (b. 1990), Aizivaishe (b. 1992), Nguvayake (b. 1994), Nyasha (b. 1996), and Tatadzei (b. 1998). However, their relationship was strained, due to "mutual incompatibility," and later on, Nyamiyaga's inability to "give Joseph a son." Thus, by 2000, Joseph Ngonidzashe separated from Nyamiyaga Ngonidzashe, with some in the royal family, such as [[Chenjerai Ngonidzashe]] reporting that Joseph demanded that he be divorced from Nyamiyaga, only for Izibongo Ngonidzashe to veto the request, although Izibongo Ngonidzashe denied any claims that Joseph sought a divorce.
