The norta (symbol: ℕ; code: NOT) is the official currency of the Alliance of Nortuan States (ANS) as formed by the Nortuan Monetary Union. The norta is divided into 100 cents. The currency is also used officially by the institutions of the ANS, though it is not mandated by the ANS Charter as being the sole official currency, and as such most member states of the ANS utilize their own official currencies and keep norta as another acceptable currency. Outside of Nortua, a number of countries also accept the norta as a currency. Additionally, over 200 million people worldwide use currencies pegged to the norta. As of 2021, the norta is the third-largest reserve currency as well as the third-most traded currency in the world after the Zamastanian dollar and Yuaneze yen. As of December 2019, with more than ℕ3.3 trillion in circulation, the norta has one of the highest combined values of banknotes and coins in circulation in the world.
