After 1970 the Belfrasian Armed Forces developed a system of identification codes for self-made equipment.

Missile/Rocket Ordnance

Explanation

The basic designation for every missile or rocket is based on a set of letters in a certain sequence. The first letter is the environment in which the item is launched. The second is the purpose of the missile, such as it's mission. The third is what kind of weapon the item is, or if it's just a vehicle of movement.

Examples of guided missiles are:

  • AGM - (A) Air-launched (G) Surface-attack (M) Guided missile
  • AAM - (A) Air-launched (D) Decoy/Training (M) Guided missile
  • ADM - (A) Air-launched (T) Training (M) Guided missile
  • IAM - (I) Infantry-launched (A) Anti-Air (M) Guided missile

A number follows. This number, which may be followed by consecutive letters to designate a modification, is the model of the item. A dash, followed by a final letter, designates specific warnings about the missile.

  • AAM-104D-N means:
    • A - The item was air-launched;
    • A - The item is designed to attack air targets;
    • M - The item is a guided missile;
    • 104 - Item is the 104th AAM designed;
    • D - Forth modification;
    • N - Item carries a nuclear warhead;

In addition, most ordnance have names, such a Foreganger or Trebuchet.

First Letter - Launch Environment

Second Letter - Missile purpose

Variants would usually hold EW warheads. |----- | E || Special Electric || Item is designed to carry equipment for communication, countermeasure, or a number of relay missions. |----- | G || Ground Attack || Item is designed to attack ground defenses. |----- | M || Anti-Missile || Item is designed to counter small, high-speed threats (Missiles) |----- | U || Underwater || Item is designed to attack underwater targets |----- | X || Space || Item is designed for operations in a vacuum (i.e space) |----- |}

Third Letter - Vehicle Type

Template:Standard table ! style="text-align: left; background: #aabccc;"| Letter ! style="text-align: left; background: #aabccc;"| Vehicle Type ! style="text-align: left; background: #aabccc;"| Detailed Description |----- | M || Guided Missile || Item is unmanned with it's own means of propulsion and either a remote guidance system or a way to communicate to somebody targeting the item. |----- | O || Orbital vehicle || Item is designed for operations in space. |----- | R || Rocket || Item is unmanned with it's own means of propulsion. Cannot be interacted with after launch and cannot alter its own course. |----- | T || Torpedo || Item is an underwater operating item. |----- |}

Forth Letter - Special Information

Usually temporary, case-by-case basis. Does not generally stay with a modification serial unless modification only carries a nuclear warhead for example. Template:Standard table ! style="text-align: left; background: #aabccc;"| Letter ! style="text-align: left; background: #aabccc;"| Info ! style="text-align: left; background: #aabccc;"| Detailed Description |----- | D || Direct || Item is equipped with a nose for impact protection (Only if not in main design) |----- | N || Nuclear || Item is currently carrying a nuclear warhead. |----- | X || Experimental || Item is an experimental modification |----- | Y || Prototype || The item is the first of it's series. |}
