Azanami (KS: あざ波), officially the Grand Duchy of Azanami (KS: あざ波大公国, Azanami Dai-kōkoku), is a landlocked country in eastern Komashi, and part of its confederal kingdom. It is bordered by Kaslana, Zaychik, and Sakura to the north, Hanabi and Maikaze to the west, and the two countries of Mirai and Vozlisch to the south. Its capital is Kuriyama, and its largest city is Aoisetsu, directly across the border of Hanabi, forming the Aoisetsu-Maaya Metroplex. Azanami is also known as the Land of Diplomacy.

One of the most powerful realms that are part of the confederal kingdom, Azanami is home to the extremely influential Azanami clan. The clan survived the Domain Wars, and such, Azanami is one of the only realms of Komashi that has its territorial and cultural extent intact, the other being the Principality of Aizawa, albeit the latter was a large and powerful monarchy ever since.

In the feudal era of Komashi, Azanami was known as the Azanami Domain, founded by Tateyama no Azanami. A renowned warrior, Azanami expanded his domain through concessions and treaties. Over the course of the Domain Wars, the domain remained unharmed and stayed out of the wars, and Azanami saw itself as the linking nation between the Komashi domains, the Zaychikian warlords, and the Vozlisch-speaking Knights of Varforia. Concessions were made between the three localities, and Azanami saw itself expanding through diplomatic means, with no bloodshed. These efforts led it to gain its popular name as the land of diplomacy.

By the end of the Domain Wars, Azanami reformed itself into a full-fledged monarchy.
