The Ardalian Military (Ardalian: Vojna Ardaska) is responsible for ensuring the soverignity and territorial integreity of the state and to defend against any possible aggression made by air, land, or sea. A total of 51,904 are on active duty. Ardalia's military is a full professional force, however, the Government instituted conscription during the Great War (1938-1942) and the Ardalian Civil War (1996-2000). While Ardalia does have a naval force (a coast guard), the Caropsyne Navy is relied upon to properly defend the nation's territorial waters. The President is the commander-in-chief of the military but the Government, chaired by the Premier, decides on their deployment and use in missions. The military also carries out non-traditional tasks such as humanitarian support during floods, fires, and other natural disasters.
