The Federal Republic of Volgorodov (FRV), commonly known as Volgorodov, is a federal republic located in Northwestern Gwaii, neighboured by Haida to the East and Beyborg to the South. Volgorodov is one of the largest in its world, with a population of about 750,000,000 spread across roughly 1/4ths of the continent Gwaii, and is known for its fundamentally collectivistic society and large military. Its capital and largest city is Ztalinigrad.
The lands of present-day Volgorodov was once ruled by various nomadic tribes under a loose confederation, wracked with inter-tribe rivalries and conflicts. It would not be until around 1200 CE that they would be united under a single banner by Tzemsur Khagan, forming the Orda Volgan (Volgan Horde), transforming the nation from an aristocracy into a meritocracy, and whose lands constitutes much of modern Volgorodov's territory.
Volgorodov is a large multiethnic nation that consists of distinct native ethnic and linguistic groups, with the Volsav being the largest demographic among them. Volgan society has embraced a shared identity with the motto "Korynku matı osaau od tagash" ("Our roots grow one tree"), defined with a national language, ethnic diversity, religious freedom, and a history of rebellion against hostile foreigners.
Etymology
The name Volgorodov is derived from Volgan and Rodov, meaning "Volgans of the Rodov". Volgan is the term for the people united under Tzemsur Khagan. Rodov is of much more uncertain origin, but the most likely prospect would be the name of an ancient river dubbed "Rodov" (Rudov in Tovgoran) according to ancient sources.
The term Volgan originates from a confederation consisting of the five largest tribes of pre-Orda Volgoraav times: the Volsav, Gaukhaan, Mreget and Tovgor, when they first formed the Volgyr-Mrevkhaan Confederation. When Tzemsur Khagan united all the tribes under one banner, including the Volgyr-Mrevkhaan Confederation, the term "Volgan", a shortening of the confederation's name, grew into an umbrella term for a large group of tribes united under Tzemsur Khagan's rule. While previously used only by visiting foreigners and surrounding unrelated tribes, the growing common usage of the demonym led to the Orda adopting it.
